Alright...
...I don't create enough
Too much consumption, not enough creation
I have started to find lately that I am falling into the habit of consuming, mostly watching shows, youtube etc, and I am not creating much. I do consume creation content… but that is still consumption. However, watching creation content has helped spark my fire of creation. So, here is one of the first steps to more creation.
1. Why this, why now
One of the forms of creation I enjoy the most is writing. Others include embroidery, exercise/physical activity (yes I would count this as creating), and perhaps my ultimate form of creation is learning. A caveat to this last point in relation to not just consuming but actually creating is that for learning to count as creating what has been learned has to be used for creating that thing that you just learned about…
So, yeah. I want to write more, and I want to write about a bunch of things.
2. What kind of community are you looking to build here
You may have noticed (if you, the reader, have also created a substack) that the header for point 1. and point 2. are the stock header prompts substack gives you when you pen your first post. I have left that there on purpose as a prompt to myself and to guide this first post, but I don’t actually want to create a community. Or, at least, I don’t care if I do or not. Feel free to come for a ride, but I am making this for me and my benefit. Maybe it benefits you too, who knows.
3. Be specific
Hmm, well I cannot really be specific about what this will be as I don’t even know yet. I also don’t think that *all* readers love clarity. I am sure there are some chaos goblins out there who will enjoy some stream of conscious unplanned writings about various and randonm topics.
I suppose that one core aspect of what this will be though, is it will be a place for my writing journey, a place for me to explore topics I am interested in, and hopefully to contribute creations of value. Rather than just constantly consuming.
“How often will you be posting?” I dunno.
“Can they [readers] expect certain posts on specific days?” No, I can’t even expect that yet. I will try to write weekly, and post on weekends though.
“What will the free subscribers get?” Unfetered access to my thoughts and ramblings.
“What does a paid subscription buy them?” Nothing at the moment, don’t pay me.
